Alma Lee

The ALMA LEE is a classic forty-three foot Chesapeake Bay Deadrise. The vessel is named after Alma Lee King, who was the mother and grandmother to the Captains. She was built in 1993 at Deltaville, Virginia by well known and respected boatbuilder Alvin Sibley. Her length, width, and displacement give her a comfortable ride even in rough sea conditions. Her large covered deck area allows customers plenty of shade and space to fish in the summer and a place to beat the wind and cold during the fall Rockfish season.

The ALMA LEE is a U.S Coast Guard Inspected Small Passenger Vessel certified to carry up to eighteen people. She is diesel powered and outfitted with an array of electronics including communication radios, radar, depth/fish finder, and the latest in GPS navigation technology. Her fishing equipment and tackle are kept in new condition. Items are serviced or replaced at the first signs of wear so that the "big one" does not get away. There is a head (bathroom) on-board for your comfort and convenience.

Capt. Randy King
Captain Randy, a native of Richmond, VA, has over twenty years of fishing experience in the middle Chesapeake Bay area ranging from fly fishing and light tackle for trout and redfish to heavy tackle trolling for trophy rockfish. In addition to bay fishing, he has served as a mate aboard several offshore fishing vessels.

You will be in good hands while aboard the ALMA LEE, as passenger safety is a top priority. After college, Captain Randy was a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service officer stationed in Connecticut. Most of his work there involved marine operations on Long Island Sound. After returning to Virginia, he began working for Spirit Marine. Captain Randy served as a Captain for the passenger vessels Annabel Lee, Elite I, and Spirit of Norfolk. During his six years with Spirit, he carried close to 200,000 passengers without a serious incident. Captain Randy brings all this together to make sure your your day is a safe, productive, and memorable one aboard the ALMA LEE.

Capt. Lewis King
Captain Lewis, a native of Portsmouth, VA, assists with charter operations and shares in vessel maintenance and administrative matters. His fishing experience and knowledge of the middle-bay and its tributaries comes from residing on Gwynn's Island for a number of years. In addition, customers can be sure that the ALMA LEE will reach her target and return to port on-time, as he served as a navigator-bombardier in the U.S. Air Force and later received a private pilots license. Now retired from active business, he looks forward to sharing his enjoyment of boating and fishing with those who come aboard the ALMA LEE.
