News & What's Biting

For 2012, we will be adding a 36 foot Twin Vee Pilothouse catamaran to our fleet. The "BIRD-DOG II" will primarily be used for Rockfishing and targeting sportfish in the lower part of the bay. More details to follow...

We are in the process of making changes to the website. Once completed, it will be more informative, user-friendly, and packed with a lot of goodies for an improved viewing experience.

FISHING REPORTS: Virginia Beach, VA

Synopsis - The mild temperatures this fall and winter have kept the water temperatures at a near perfect range for Virginia's Coastal Rockfishing Season. Schools of big Rockfish along with many Bluefin Tuna have remained within the three-mile limit off Virginia for the last month. Angling action has been incredible.

January 24, 2012 - Catch and Release fishing in the lower bay was awesome. A little eeling, some trolling, and jigging produced fish up to 49".

January 19, 2012- Not quite as spectacular as our day on the 10th, but pretty darn close - Casting and jigging to schools of 30" to 40" fish on light gear - nothing better.

January 16, 2012-  I was invited to go along on a Commercial Bluefin boat out of Oregon Inlet. We did not catch any bluefin, but managed 4 yellowfins, a mahi-mahi, and a couple of false albacore. Toward the end of the day, we fished on top of a reef and caught a nice mess of black sea bass.

January 15, 2012 - The water was rough and it was windy, but still made it out and caught plenty of rockfish off  Cape Henry.

January 10, 2012 - Probably the most incredible day of Rockfishing I have ever experienced, which says alot from someone who is a charterboat captain...50 - 60 fish in the 30" - 40" while casting and jigging with light spinning rods over a period of just several hours. The schools of fish were visible on the surface and around the boat...thousands of them chasing silversides and bunker- it was like seeing them in an aquarium...and to make the day even better- multiple whale sightings, lots of gannets, calm water, and a warm sunny day.

January 6, 2012 - Did some catch and release fishing yesterday down off Cape Charles. Put out a nice spread of live eel while drifting and managed 5 Rockfish over 40" including two length citations.
